I'm running into an issue starting shorewall 4.0.3 in a kernel 2.6.22-gentoo-r9 environment. The error I'm getting is:
| Code: |
iptables: No chain/target/match by that name
ERROR: Command "/sbin/iptables -A FORWARD -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT" Failed
Processing /etc/shorewall/stop ...
iptables: No chain/target/match by that name
|
If I boot the old kernel (2.6.18-xxx) it starts fine. I used the same config file to compile both kernels. What do I need to change in the config in order to get Shorewall 4.0.3 working with the new kernel?
Thank you!

There have been significant changes in the iptables configuration in the kernel since 2.6.18. You'd be best off going through menuconfig again, at least for that part of it. _________________ Saving the world, one kilobyte at a time. |

I have the same issue.
I know major changes occured with 2.6.20 which I had to consult a page on the Shorewall website (sorry I forgot the link) to get it resolved. Seem something got changed also in 2.6.22.
I'm still investigating.
[edit] Found it. See this: http://www.shorewall.net/kernel.htm _________________ (7 of 9) Installing star-trek/species-8.4.7.2::talax. |

| Thanks! I had the same error in the 1st post when starting shorewall after a kernel update (2.6.18 - 2.6.23). The configs posted in the link seemed to do the trick. I'm not recompiling everything into the kernel, as it seemed to work as modules. |
