Hello,
When installing gentoo i could ping outside servers and do emerge rsync fine.
The Gentoo install has completed, I'm not getting any errors but for some reason I cannot ping any outside servers. I can ping the router and other computers in my LAN fine.
Does anyone know what can be causing this?
edit: I've tried telnet, it doesn't work on outside servers either. |

make sure you have a gateway specified in /etc/conf.d/net if youre not using dhcp.
an example looks like this
Code: |
gateway="eth0/10.0.0.1"
|
note: of course modify to your needs
also you may want to run 'route' as root to make sure the default gateway is valid. run 'route add default gw 10.0.0.1' or whatever the ip of your gateway is (the nat box)
this should clear it up if its a gateway problem which it sounds like. (since you cant get to the outside) _________________ magoo |
