|
|
Hi,
I tried to run TORCS but it always crashes when I start any race. So I ran it from the terminal:
Code: |
torcs
Visual Properties Report

Compatibility mode, properties unknown.
WARNING: ssgLoadTexture: Cannot determine file type for './(null)'
WARNING: ssgLoadTGA: Failed to open '/home/torcs/kcendra/2000gt/car00.tga' for reading.
open /dev/[sound/]dsp: No such file or directory

/usr/games/bin/torcs: line 52: 8472 Aborted $LIBDIR/torcs-bin -l $LOCAL_CONF -L $LIBDIR -D $DATADIR $*
|
I dont have those folders listed in the messages. I wonder, how do I populate them?
Thank you for any help, |

My problem was the sound. I turned it off and now it works. But I would like to turn it on. Does any one has any idea how to do it? It seems that it cant find the card... but I use it with all other audio applications in my computer. Thank you! |

Have you tried switching sound modes within the game? In my case in the past if other modes failed plib worked, but I'm not sure if it would work with other audio apps running. These days OpenAL works fine for me, but plib was like a fall back point in the past. |

Hi, I tried to disable sound and now I can play. When I select plib I get no sound but when I select openal the games crashes. I believe this is the relevant message:
Code: | open /dev/[sound/]dsp: No such file or directory |
Do I have to create a /dev/dsp linked to something? If so, what would it link to?
Thank you for any help! |

Add the oss USE flag and emerge alsa-driver.
The directory is automatically created.
That problem was solved in this thread:
/dev/dsp not found |
