|
|
I did a emerge of netkit-telnetd with no errors, modifyed the /etc/xinetd.d/telnetd changing disable to no.
If i do a ps aux|grep telnetd i show the process is running
If i do a netstat -an I show no service listening on any address for port 23.
I assume with not able to telnet localhost (receiving error Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused) combined with the netstat results that i have a process running but not bound to a port/address?
How do I fix this? Please dont respond to use SSH, if the instructor would let me believe me I would. (closed classroom for PEN testing purposes.
Thanks, |

Have you tried restarting the daemon since you modified the config? Do you get anything in the logs?
Cheers,

yeah, I restarted the daemon numerous times with no luck. I finally settled on installing utelnetd as others suggested in this forum. Little configuration for loading and works beautifully.
Thanks for the reply, |
