I'm having a wierd problem. Once I burn a DVD ISO with K3B, when it's done, my DVD drive no longer exists. It doesnt exist in /dev and accoring to K3B I no longer have a DVD or CD drive in my computer. It comes back when I reboot but if I have a series of ISOs to burn this becomes quite a pain.
Anyone else experience this problem? |

There should be some messages about it in your syslog. Or check with dmesg. |

Well here is what is in my log file at the time of the dvd being finished: Code: | Oct 25 19:54:58 [kernel] hda: irq timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy }
Oct 25 19:55:00 [kernel] ide: failed opcode was: unknown
Oct 25 19:55:00 [kernel] hda: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest }
Oct 25 19:55:00 [kernel] ide: failed opcode was: unknown
Oct 25 19:55:00 [kernel] hda: drive not ready for command
Oct 25 19:55:00 [kernel] hda: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest }
Oct 25 19:55:00 [kernel] ide: failed opcode was: unknown
Oct 25 19:55:00 [kernel] hda: drive not ready for command |
And then it keeps repeating, and then this comes up: Code: |
Oct 25 19:55:10 [kernel] hda: status error: status=0x59 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest Error }
Oct 25 19:55:10 [kernel] hda: status error: error=0x44 { AbortedCommand LastFailedSense=0x04 }
Oct 25 19:55:10 [kernel] ide: failed opcode was: unknown
Oct 25 19:55:10 [kernel] hda: drive not ready for command
Oct 25 19:55:10 [kernel] hda: status error: status=0x59 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest Error }
Oct 25 19:55:10 [kernel] hda: status error: error=0x44 { AbortedCommand LastFailedSense=0x04 }
Oct 25 19:55:10 [kernel] ide: failed opcode was: unknown
Oct 25 19:55:10 [kernel] hda: drive not ready for command
Oct 25 19:55:10 [kernel] hda: status error: status=0x59 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest Error }
Oct 25 19:55:10 [kernel] hda: status error: error=0x44 { AbortedCommand LastFailedSense=0x04 }
Oct 25 19:55:10 [kernel] ide: failed opcode was: unknown
Oct 25 19:55:10 [kernel] hda: drive not ready for command |
And then that repeats until the end of the file.
Any ideas? |

Hi,
have you got SATA and IDE so hda is you burner? If so, do you use the libata driver for the IDE devices or the "old" IDE drivers? Is IO-APIC enabled? |

I do have SATA and IDE and yes, hda is my burner. I'm not sure if the driver I'm using is libata. I know I need to enable JMicron PATA in the kernel for my drive to be recognized. I'm not sure if that helps. And if IO-APIC is enabled by default, then its on, otherwise, its not. |
