Today I found out that kdesdk:kde-svn is killing my context menu in dolphin and konqueror(filemanagermode).
With kdesdk:kde-svn installed an error regarding dbusconnect occurs:
Code:
Object::connect: No such slot QDBusReplyWaiter::error(QDBusMessage)

Anybody any idea which part of kdesdk:kde-svn causes this and probably how-to fix/workaround this ?

Edit1:
As I need umbrello(the new version because of buggy entity-relation in old versions) and love kate and missing them both was unbearable to me, I edited the CMakeLists.txt und commented out everything except kate and umbrello.
I installed the modified kdesdk and so far my contextmenu still works. If I have time I will enable the other parts of kdesdk one by one to see which one is breaking dolphin/konqueror contextmenu.

So stand by....

retroman,
I synced layman and portage about 7 hours ago, and had to do the re-digest stuff, but then eveything updated in kde svn for me. Just finished up on all my packages- no problems. Maybe they are/were working on the kde overlay at the moment you tried to sync?

I do have all the 9999.4 packages (and >=kde-3.5.8 ) listed in package.unmask now, as without that, I couldn't even emerge -uD world.

I'm downgrading back to 3.5. Not being able to use my other monitor in dual head mode and use skim to do Japanese input is killing me. It's a shame 'cause KDE 4 is really neat.

Hi,

I have installed monolitic ebuilds.

Code:
[07:25:07 root@nbmkyral marian]# emerge -1av =kde-misc/extragear-plasma-9999.4
 * Overlay eclasses override eclasses from PORTDIR:
 *
 *   '/usr/portage/local/layman/kde/eclass/kde4-base.eclass'
 *   '/usr/portage/local/layman/kde/eclass/kde4-functions.eclass'
 *   '/usr/portage/local/layman/kde/eclass/kde4-meta.eclass'
 *   '/usr/portage/local/layman/kde/eclass/subversion.eclass'
 *
 * It is best to avoid overridding eclasses from PORTDIR because it will
 * trigger invalidation of cached ebuild metadata that is distributed with
 * the portage tree. If you must override eclasses from PORTDIR then you
 * are advised to run `emerge --regen` after each time that you run `emerge
 * --sync`. Set PORTAGE_ECLASS_WARNING_ENABLE="0" in /etc/make.conf if you
 * would like to disable this warning.

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies |
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy ">=kde-base/krunner-9999.4:kde-svn".
(dependency required by "kde-misc/extragear-plasma-9999.4" [ebuild])

same problem here, do andybody have got this krunner svn ebuild? its neither in the kde overlay nor in the official portage tree.
any suggestions?

I had problems with amarok finding ruby as well. My solution was some combinations of emerging ruby-gems and doing ruby-config ruby18 . Not really sure which did the trick but amarok compiled afterwords.

Thank you so much. I will try this and report back here.

UPDATE: This worked like a charm. Again, many thanks, you've saved me from my headaches.

Yeah, same here. I have to do layman -d kde and layman -a kde when I want to sync, and letting it sit there and pull the whole thing from git is time consuming.

retroman, simply try to delete the files git complains about from the overlay. I had same issues with kdelibs from svn some days ago. (I did create a custom ebuild to avoid version 9999.4 complaining that version 3.5.7 was installed). Just try to remove them from the overlay and then try resync.

AmonAmarth, krunner (thats the run dialog) is in kdebase, and kde-svn doesn't (yet) have split packages.

:cry: And I got it working with konqi 3 just few weeks before. Dammit.

I have a similar problem, but with Firefox.

Flash appears and works but if I resize the window then it goes to the grey box that you describe (except its the size of the applet not half).

Sounds like you are using Flash on AMD64 with the nspluginwrapper...

FYI, alt+tab thumbnails are still being refreshed.

Would love to have this feature back.

KDE4 rocks

The problem above still exists for me... anyone else having trouble with refreshing taskbar thumbnail previews?

You can enable taskbar thumbnail previews by: Desktop Effects -> Advanced -> Select keep thumbnails updated option...

Thanks

kdemultimedia-9999.4 fails.
Looks like it needs Xine and phonon-xine compiled with XCB support, which I guess means xine-lib, and also kdebase (phonon-xine is in kdebase/runtime/phonon). Strange- says it can't find Flac and taglib, but I have flac-1.2.1-r2 and taglib-1.4-r1 installed. So to summarize, I guess I might need to emerge xcb-2.4, and kdemultimedia now needs flac and taglib in package.use, kdebase now needs xcb in package.use, and xine-lib needs to be compiled with USE="xcb" emerge xine-lib.

Is this correct, or is my sudden svn kdemultimedia problem something else? I'll try the above when I finish up my current svn update (already did kdelibs,kdepimlibs, and kdebase).
