|
|
I just installed Gentoo Linux and KDE on my iBook G4, which has an ATI M11 NV [FireGL Mobility T2e] (rev 80) video cord in it. Are there still no proprietary drivers available for this hardware in Linux? Does this mean that I won't be able to run such things as desktop effects in KDE and no 3D graphics? Or is there another solution available that I'm not finding? |

You would need to use MESA, there are open source drivers available for this card. You would need to use KMS to get 3D working at this time, but it's not very stable, fast or useful on PowerPC at the moment. The older driver still has accelerated 2D, sleep support and brightness dimming, but 3D isn't working. YMMV, but I'd stick with the older UMS driver for now. _________________ Gentoo PPC FAQ: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-ppc-faq.xml |
