|

I'm looking for a decent, ivtv compatible program to use for a TV app. Currently I am messing with mplayer to see what I can get it to do, and tried tvtime (which doesn't support ivtv).
I attempted mythtv, but I'm not even going to start with that.
Anyone have any suggestions? I would like something I could save a TV show with, and could automate through a simple script or two (using at, more than likely). _________________ The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner. |

I use tvtime (HVR-950), but I have occasionally been known to use xawtv, especially if I have to record. Should work, correct? I did the same thing with my old cx88 board.
BTW, for digital (if you ever upgrade, for example) I use getatsc + mplayer. I don't know how it works with your hardware ('cuz you have the internal mpeg2 encoder), but it might be like that?
No expert, but has a little experience,

Heh was going to recommend myth, untill i read you're post. I've been running myth for about 4 years now with a PVR-150, there's more help etc out there if the problem was that it's a pain in the ass to setup. In any case there's a pretty good list over at schedules direct |

I tried mythtv. Twice. I never got it working, the whole thing was a big mess!!!
I want my tv in a little window, I don't want my computer to become a media center!!!

I'm using mplayer w/ ivtv-tune right now. It works alright, not ideal but it works.
I tried XawTV, KDETV, and I looked into MythTV, which seems about as overblown as anything I have ever seen. Like p_p-man said, I don't want my system to turn into a media center.
I tried Tvtime, but it said it doesn't support ivtv (which is what I had to use to get my card to work), and like I said, nothing shy of mplayer /dev/video0 works. _________________ The day Microsoft makes a product that doesn't suck, is the day they make a vacuum cleaner. |
