Hi everybody.
I think I'm in a big trouble :(
... my /var/db directory is empty ! Ok, I did a little mistake by doing some "rm -rf"

so my situation is as follow :
1) I'm on a laptop complety (except for installing/upgrading packages) functional (with X, xfce, firefox, thunderbird, etc...)

2) I still have my world file (in /var/lib/portage/world)

3) for emerge (as for eix), no packages are installed on my machine

4) when I try to emerge somthing, it gives me all the packages dependencies (as nothing seems to be installed because /var/db/pkg is empty) and I got quite a lot of
Quote:

!!! disabling USE flags that trigger optional dependencies."

5) the /var/cache/edb directory has been empty too, but after a emerge --sync it seems ok now. Is it ?

6) I don't know what to do except jumping through my window :!:

Someone know how I can "rebuild" the /var/db/pkg directory so my installed packages can be seen as installed ?

Thank you for the help

Thank you.
I'll see what I can do whith this.

I mark the post as SOLVED, as it seems to be the only solution : rebuild manually (I mean using a home made script) the /var/db/pkg directory.

Thanks again.
