Apache working with MySQL

Okay. . .I've got a nice little Apache webserver running, and it has a nice large file name access_log.

Now, just out of curiousity, is there any way I can get Apache to use MySQL to put all the access_log stuff into a db so it's easier to read?? I've been searching the forums, but everything regarding MySQL and Apache also includes PHP (which has already been done and works great).

Woudlnt it take longer to do an sql update to every single change in the apache logs rather than append it to a huge textfile?

No clue. That's why I was wondering about something like this.

Doesn't seem to slowdown PHPBB any. :-?

And it's not like this is going to be a huge, huge, huge website, either. It's just something for my friends to visit and hang out.
