The mplayer ebuilds in the tree have changed a little bit, in that the versioning scheme has changed. We went back to the correct version scheme for what the releases should be like (rc1, patch levels).
For users, after an emerge --sync, it will look like your mplayer wants to forcibly downgrade because it's a lower version than one you currently have installed. You can do what you want to do, emerge it or not, though it is the exact same ebuild and same program as before.
At the same time, we removed older versions of the mplayer ebuilds that had security bugs. Sorry if anyone was relying on those, as I tried to keep them in there as long as possible. If you are having any issues with Mplayer just file a bug on bugs.gentoo.org. Here are the older ebuilds if you still want them for whatever reason:

Thanks guys, sorry for the confusion. _________________ If it ain't broke, tweak it. planet | packages | blog | home |
