Hello,
I have a problem with m4a audio files.
I'm able to play them in xine, but rhythmbox complains about a missing gstreamer plugins.
These are my use flags
Code:

USE=    " X gtk gnome -qt3 -qt4 -kde dvd dvdr alsa cdr -cups png truetype lm_sensors acpi samba
tiff jpeg bzip2 mpeg avahi hal dbus java cups sse sse2 mp3 xvid encode vorbis mp3 flac
          aac
        "

Anyone has an idea? Thank you

Which gstreamer plugin packages have you installed?

Hello didymos,
I think I can't understand your question
I have this package
Code:

CoreDuo mose # eix media-libs/gstreamer
[I] media-libs/gstreamer
     Available versions:
        (0.8)   0.8.11 ~0.8.12
        (0.10)  0.10.8 0.10.11 ~0.10.12 ~0.10.13 ~0.10.14
        {debug doc}
     Installed versions:  0.10.11(0.10)(15:48:15 24/08/2007)
     Homepage:            http://gstreamer.sourceforge.net
     Description:         Streaming media framework

Is there something else I need?

Did you install any of the gst-plugins-* packages? If not, then install at least media-libs/gst-plugins-base and media-libs/gst-plugins-good. I think that's enough for m4a files, but others might be required. There are quite a few.

Perhaps I'm missing some other package, or I'm missing some important USE flag?

I don't know if this helps, but I receive this error when I start rhythmbox from a console and then open a m4a file
Code:

mose@CoreDuo ~ $ rhythmbox
** Message: don't know how to handle audio/x-m4a

Actually, it's gst-plugins-faac you need, I believe.

I did an
Code:

CoreDuo mose # emerge  media-plugins/gst-plugins-faac

...not enough, so I tried

Code:

CoreDuo mose # emerge  media-plugins/gst-plugins-faad

Same error.
So I tried
Code:

CoreDuo mose # emerge gst-plugins-bad

And I finally got it fixed.
The strange thing is that I actually need all these three plugins (if I unmerge one of those I can't play m4a in rhythmbox) and, most strange, gst-plugins-bad is a masked and unmaintained package.
Sounds a little strange to me that we can't have m4a support without masked packages on x86 architecture.
However, problem is solved.

Thank you
