After an update, totem now no longer plays my H264 encoded files - it complains:
(totem:3359): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_value_set_fraction: assertion `denominator != 0' failed
** Message: Error: Element doesn't implement handling of this stream. Please file a bug.
gstffmpegdemux.c(987): gst_ffmpegdemux_sink_activate (): /play/decodebin0/ffdemux_aac0:
failed to activate sinkpad in pull mode, push mode not implemented yet
So I updated ffmpeg, which didn't fix the problem, but stopped VLC from playing the files. So I downgraded ffmpeg and now at least VLC plays them.
Any idea why the ffmpeg upgrade was marked as stable if it breaks VLC? And why does the new totem have problems too...
To be honest, I'm not expecting a solution - it's just so infuriating at times. Aarrgh... _________________ Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 | Asus P5K | 8GB DDR-2 800

the new totem is broken because the gnome devs, for what ever reason, removed the xine backend support. They want to use gstreamer, but it's lacking the plugins to handle most codecs. So, unfortunatly, it's just a matter of time until new codecs are created to fill the new gap. _________________ He who calls for full employment calls for war! |

Well, they like removing features in general, so there may not be any specific reason for it. _________________ Thomas S. Howard |
