I have a Sun Ultra Enterprise 450, which is relativly loaded, and the ventilation is not quite up to spec in the room...

So to my question. Anyone who nows how to get the internal sensors to work?

I've tried to use the latest version of lm_sensors (2.10.4), and sensors-detect says it founds ipmisensors. I'm confused because it finds the sesnsors at the ISA-bus, which as I know sparc doesn't have...

I've patched my kernel to get the ipmisensors and ipmi-si modules.

ipmisensors loads, ipmi-si says something no such device after a long while...

I havn't seen ipmi anywhere else in my e450, so I think it's wrong...

Anyone have an idea? I'm confused...

uname -a
Code:
Linux kuryakin 2.6.22-gentoo-r2 #5 SMP Mon Aug 13 23:51:10 UTC 2007 sparc64 sun4u TI UltraSparc II  (BlackBird) GNU/Linux

sensors-detect interesting parts:
Code:

Now follows a summary of the probes I have just done.
Just press ENTER to continue:
Driver `ipmisensors' (should be inserted):
  Detects correctly:
  * ISA bus, address 0xca0
    Chip `IPMI BMC KCS' (confidence: 4)
  * ISA bus, address 0xca8
    Chip `IPMI BMC SMIC' (confidence: 4)

...

#----cut here----
# You must also install and load the IPMI modules
modprobe ipmi-si
# Chip drivers
modprobe ipmisensors
# sleep 2 # optional
/usr/bin/sensors -s # recommended
#----cut here----

I've realized that I was on totally wrong track, so I searched more and found an experimental driver for SUNW,envctrl, wich I had to modify so it souldn't stop my fans and let my system overheat :P

http://www.david-web.co.uk/index.php?p=envctrl

It doesn't work (at least for me) with lm_sensors, but it might help someone else who just wants to know how hot the CPUs are, and can accept to use cat /sys/some/path
