Hi all
I was wondering if it is possibly to get a program or write one that interfaces (if so would take a while) with the IR on my laptop. I was reading a post and it gave me an idea. I was thinking it would be nice to control my tv or the like from my laptop. Is there something allready out there...?
It would take a while to write something my self pluss i would have to learn more about the IR and the like (still new to programming).
Just a though.

It's definitely possible - I have an old Palm which I use to zap my TV, video, Skybox, Freeview box, SBLive!Drive...
However, the IR range is extremely limited (Far less than a real remote), and I suspect a lappy wouldn't fare that much better... |

Varies... I'd say... mmm... about 2m for the TV through to <1m for the Live!Drive.
The Palm isn't known for it's strong IR 'tho
My other Palm, a Sony Clie, has a custom IR beam in it which I've had working in the 7-8m range, but that's not IRDA compatible |
