Quote:
/etc/init.d/acpid restart
* Starting acpid ...
acpid: can't open /proc/acpi/event: Device or resource busy [ !! ]

This just started to occur out of no where to my knowledge. What could it be?

The script may not be shutting it down properly. Check the running processes to see if it's still lurking, and look in /tmp for sockets and /var for lock files or pid files.

the acpid.socket is in /var/run. I don't see any sockets in /tmp . There is the following process, which I know nothing about and is probably nothing.

Quote:

root 99 9 0 12:54 ? 00:00:00 [kacpid]

That's normal: kacpid. If you've killed acpid, and the socket is still there, then remove the socket, and it should start up again. It should have been removed then recreated when the script was run. Sounds like it didn't remove it, then bitched about it when it found a socket already there.

I removed the acpid.socket and tried to start acpid, but it still complains.
