Just wondering if somebody has or knows of a guide to setup sound successfully on a 350Mhz B/W G3 desktop machine.

I did have it working once, but as i was trying several drivers at the time and being a newbie, I managed to break it and now am not able to get it going again.
emerged alsa-driver etc.
Can I safely unmerge the alsa-driver etc., or could that also unmerge dependencies that other modules rely on?

Maybe I should try and start from scratch! (fdisk it all?)

Dont Fdisk 'cause your sound isnt working.
U can safely unmerge alsa. But if you want further help u have to be more specific about your setup - alsa-version, kernel, etc...And not least: The error-message / actual problem...

I use the oss sound modules compiled into the kernel on both a 7600 and a 12" laptop. I use persistant buffering and the other one (two sub menus pop up when you select the right oss sound module. Its about 4 from the bottom) I need to change the sound driver to compiled into the kernel to get the oss to be anle to do the same.
