@DocterD:

see if CONFIG_PROC_FILECACHE=y is set

@Vegan:

didn't try that version, but 8.38.something works fine

This is a known bug :P

Don't compile filecache support as a module.

Code:
CONFIG_PROC_FILECACHE=y

I had the same error as DoctorD, and a warning about udf. Disabled both in config, and recompiled, and make modules then completed. Other than that, kernel boots and runs fine here. I made the mistake of leaving filecache as a module (hadn't seen Waninkoko's post on known bug), and probably didn't need to disable the udf FS. Just noticed I forgot to compile in my soundcard, so I'll have to recompile again, and fix these items.
Code:
CC [M]  fs/udf/balloc.o
fs/udf/balloc.c: In function ‘udf_table_new_block’:
fs/udf/balloc.c:747: warning: ‘goal_eloc.logicalBlockNum’ may be used uninitialized in this function

Cool Patchset, i love it, no errors here, it compiles cleanly and runs perfectly :-)

One Question, what is the difference between highly interactive desktop and interactive desktop ? Which runs smoother on a normal kde environment ?

thanks,

This happens also with vanilla?

Very soon I will release .22-klight1. If it works fine for you then I'll check which patch is causing this error.

I always recommend "Interactive Desktop". "Highly Interactive Desktop" is, as its name says, very interactive but you can experience some problems.

Patch kernel manually with broken-out patches (except with acpi-dsdt patch).

I'm running x86_64 and I had the same problem with the hung kernel. That is, I get:
Code:

Decompresing Linux...done.
Booting the kernel

Kernel alive.
Kernel direct mapping tables up to 100000000 @ 8000 - d000.

And it just sits there after that... I'm going to try something with binutils and see if that works. I'll edit back here afterwards and let you know how it turns out.

** edit **
Still didn't work. I'm running Arch and saw that there was some kind of bug caused by gcc 4.2 and the binutils package I was using. Didn't think upgrading the binutils version would help in this case, but tried it anyway... Running Core2Duo w/ 2GB RAM in a Clevo M570U laptop.

Like i said, with my desktop (Athlon 64 X2 5000+ (Brisbane), Via K8T890 Chipset, Geforce 8600GT, 2 Gig DDR2-667 Ram) It works perfectly, but on my Server (Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Windsor), nForce 6100 Chipset, Geforce 7300GS, 1 Gig DDR2-667 Ram) it doesn't work, both run under x86_64, hope i could help with this information.

my sda's have become hda's, causing huge headaches! Any idea how to fix that?

Solved: disabled Device Drivers --> ATA/ATAPI/MFM/RLL Support --> Enchanced IDE/MFM/RLL disk/cdrom/tape/floppy support

Works great now!

how to use it ? :) because
Code:

p1r4te /trunk/arcon/sys-kernel/kamikaze >>> ebuild kamikaze-sources-2.6.22-r1.ebuild merge
Disabling noauto in features... merge disables it. (qmerge doesn't)
Appending /trunk/arcon to PORTDIR_OVERLAY...
!!! /trunk/arcon does not seem to have a valid PORTDIR structure.
then what ?

Working fine here on my AMD 64 4600+ in native 64 bit mode. HR timers enabled, also initrd boot works properly too. Only problem, smartmon tools no longer work in my nvidia SATA ports, but that is an upstream bug from vanilla.
