|
|
ok, i posted this to the "off the wall" subforum, because i'm running wine on a RH-based system at work (yes, I AM trying to get portage to work!) and the thing is that i NEED to get Lotus Notes running ASAP ...with wine of course ...the problem is that wine keeps failing
ANY help would be appreciated _________________ tea+free software+law=hook

What version of Lotus notes are you trying to use? _________________ Someone asked me once if I suffered from mental illness. I told him I enjoyed every second of it.

lotus is extremly sencitive to color dept. you might want to try and make it run in 256 colors.
also, usualy, when it just dies that way, it's because either it cannot create or does not have full access to one of the following files
desktop.dsk
cache.dsk
make sure it as read/write/execute access to the folder where you are starting the application (it doesn't have to be where it is installed)
This is something we often get where I work when the client's home drive is full to quota and they loose write acess to it. _________________ Someone asked me once if I suffered from mental illness. I told him I enjoyed every second of it.

thanks for the ideas ...i'll try it out, madchaz.
and to contribute to the problem myself: there's a web-based, crossplatform version of Lotus Notes called Lotus iNotes ...it was made for the linux platform and thus made to work perfectly with netscape/mozilla ...i hope that'll be some help to anyone.
p.s. AFAIR iNotes are already in the Domino 6 package. _________________ tea+free software+law=hook

how do i do that? ...the screen dept. in .wine/config doesn't want to use neither "256" nor "8" as a number.
