Hi,

It seems that k3b cannot find cdrdao or cdrecord at startup, although k3bsetup can find them. The problem is as follows:

When I launch k3b, it detects two 'System Configuration Problems', namely that k3b cannot find cdrecord or cdrdao. Going into k3bsetup2 and I can see both cdrdao and cdrecord with the permissions 4710 root.cdrw. I have set cdrw as the burning group in k3bsetup2. Here is some info:

Code:
ls -al /usr/bin/cdr*
-rws--x--- 1 root cdrw 686010 2007-07-01 21:48 /usr/bin/cdrdao
-rws--x--- 1 root cdrw 363140 2007-07-04 23:04 /usr/bin/cdrecord

Code:
cat /etc/group |grep cdrom
cdrom:!:19:haldaemon,chris

Code:
cat /etc/group |grep cdrw
cdrw:!:80:haldaemon,chris

OK, if you open K3B then go to "Settings --> Configure K3B --> Program" and check the search paths and such, what does it show?

didymos, thank you for the response. /usr/bin/ is in the search path. Embarrassingly  enough, the problem has resolved this morning after shutdown last night and reboot now.

Although I had logged out and logged in again to pick up permission changes, that made no difference. Perhaps restarting some of the services through /etc/init.d/blah restart would have done it.

In any case, for anyone else who might meet this, my set up as noted above is now working and a reboot (which I hate :x and is probably not necessary) has done the trick.

Ta.
