I emerged virtualbox-bin with virtualbox-modules and everything seems to work fine except that I can't get any usb funtionality.
I go to access the settings pannel and I am greeted with a notice of
Could not load the Host USB Proxy Service (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND).The service might be not installed on the host computer.
Result Code: 0x80004005
Component: Host
Interface: IHost {81729c26-1aec-46f5-b7c0-cc7364738fdb}
Callee: IMachine {0332de0e-ce75-461f-8c6f-0fa42616404a}
Any ideas of what I am missing? The usb on my computer seems to be working without any perceived problems. |

I was just looking for a solution to the USB problem too. I found this:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=605715
See Delvien post. He says:
If you are using Virtualbox OSE, there is no USB option.
the Virtualbox PUEL ( Public user End license) has the USB option, check out their website to download the non - OSE.
EDIT: In order to install the full edition, you will have to uninstall the OSE first.
This makes it hard for gentoo users, since we use source. I didn't see a gentoo option in their download section.
