Hi all!
I already started such a poll in the German Forum but i thought it'd be interesting to start same one here too so here it is.
for those who are interested in the german one: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=54712
before i forget please tell your (gentoo friends) about the poll so we get lots of votes for a 'good' statistic
regards, LordVan
P.S.: questions, comments (and help translating too of course ) welcome too

Hey!
I don't really think this poll will give any information for quite obvious reason.
Most of the people who visit this forum and therefore see this poll know english quite well, as a result they might prefer english version of GWN as original is often better.
However, those people who don't speak English tha well are very unlikely to be here, while they are the main audience of the translated GWN's. |

I always read it in english. Why?
- it's where to the link goes
- the translations, wether you like it or not, aren't always accurate, and no, I couldn't do it better my self, so no flames please
- if english is my second language, why bother? _________________ Lego my ego, and I'll lego your knowledge

Translations are as accurate if the translator does a good enough job. The point is to get the idea through and not the message (for technical documents at least). I translate the GWN in french and I often completely modify the original structure while other times it's almost word by word (like softwares do).
Of course we can always discuss about the only language OSS is developped on but it's too late at this point. _________________ "Is this type of thing going to happen every time we switch to improbability drive?" "Very probably I'm afraid." |

I read GWN in Brazilian Portuguese if it is available, however, if it is not, I read the original one.
I don't know what's the reason of this poll, but I think that translated documentation/news are a very important piece of any software. _________________ My blog

I go for the original. However, I'm investigating the interest for a version in my native language (swedish, duh) for those who would prefer it. |

well reason is that we(the translators) like to know how many people read it _________________ I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it. |
