Hi, would it be a nice idea to have more harddiscs supported for hddtemp.
I have tried several time to contact the author.
It must be easy to batch the ebuild with a greater harddrive database.
e.g.
I have to add this live everytime i emerge hddtemp!
notebook roman # grep HM120JC /usr/share/hddtemp/hddtemp.db
"SAMSUNG HM120JC" 194 C "Samsung HM120JC"
So a bigger list of supported drives would be nice, so we should start to make one!

It isn't hard to add your drive to the file. Here is what I added for SATA WDC Raptor 74GB:
Code: | "WDC WD740GD-00FLA1" 194 C "Western Digital SATA Raptor 74GB 16MB" |
I just used the serial number on the left from what it said on the commandline and I knew that when it printed out that it was C so I put that in. Try it.
On the other hand, you can disable the installation of the new hddtemp.db in the ebuild(I'll look into it and maybe post a patch) and only run "emerge --config =${PN}-${PV}"
That will download the new file. I didn't bother to install hddtemp more than once so I don't really have that problem. _________________ No Man is Just a Number!

Or put /usr/share/hddtemp in your CONFIG_PROTECT in /etc/make.conf. etc-update (or cfg-update) will ask to merge your existing changes to the new one. Been doing that ever since I discovered this problem. |
