i tried some slideshow-creation scripts with images2mpg. On my ubuntu feisty a line like this, works like charm:

Code:
images2mpg -n PAL -d 2 -t 20 -o MyPortfolio.mpg -i `find . -name *.jpg`

On my gentoo machine, i am receiving following errors:

Quote:
**ERROR: [ppmtoy4m] Failed to read first frame.
**ERROR: [yuvscaler] Could'nt read YUV4MPEG header!
**ERROR: [mpeg2enc] Could not read YUV4MPEG2 header: system error (failed read/write)!

MPEG encoding terminated [1105 frames - Encoding time : 62 s].

Merging MPEG flux with MjpegTools.
**ERROR: [mplex] Unable to open file 1179498219.tmp.m2v for reading.

apart from thousand lines like ...

Quote:
convert: unable to open image `1179498219.tmp.pnm': No such file or directory.
convert: missing an image filename `-'.

i emerged mjpegtools, kipi-plugins and imagemagick with USE flags:

Quote:
[ebuild R ] media-plugins/kipi-plugins-0.1.0_rc1 USE="-arts -debug -gphoto2 -opengl -xinerama" 0 kB
[ebuild R ] media-video/mjpegtools-1.8.0-r1 USE="dv mmx png quicktime v4l yv12 -3dnow -X -dga -gtk -sdl -sse" 0 kB
[ebuild R ] media-gfx/imagemagick-6.3.3 USE="graphviz jpeg mpeg perl png truetype zlib -X -bzip2 -doc -fpx -gs -jbig -jpeg2k -lcms -nocxx -tiff -wmf -xml" 0 kB

Is this a general bug or am i missing some critical use flags?

thanks a lot!

I have the similar problems, when trying to generate a "mpeg slideshow" via digikam.
A possible solution might be found in following link:
http://home.arcor.de/chrhoffmann/images2mpg.html
(... it seems to be a bug in image2mpg???)
Just rename the old image2mpg file (f.e. to image2mpg_doesnotwork)
and copy the one from the homepage to the /usr/bin/ directory,
or edit the "buggy" line in the image2mpg file as shown.

---update---
I am sooo stupid - there is also a posting about on THIS forum:
