zattoo client (beta) for linux

  • Quote

Post by R!tman » Tue May 08, 2007 9:01 pm

Hi,

a beta client of zattoo (some kind of IP TV) has been released. Has anyone any experience with this in gentoo?

Cheers,

They provide .deb and .rpm packages. I had a look at it yesterday (using rpm2targz resp. deb2targz), but so far I haven't been able to get it to run.

I'll update this post should there be any progress.

I just found the application and it woke my curiosity :)

I downloaded the OpenSuSE/Gnome rpm-file and "converted" it with rpm2targz. Unpacked the .tar.gz and I found a /usr with share, bin and lib.

I got its dependencies with these packages:

Code: Select all

gtkglext-1.2.0
ffmpeg-0.4.9_p20060816
and I had to copy the /usr/share/zatto_player to the real /usr/share or it wouldn't find any data (is /usr/local/share not in general profile?)

The application runs, I can log in. I can choose a channel. The channel starts to play, it shows video, but no sound and a gnome bug buddy comes with a crash-window ... damn binaries :P

Since they are so linux-friendly, I hope they'll make a atleast a bin-wrapper.

I've succesfully installed Zattoo following the above instructions..

However, I had to emerge libgssapi, libkrb5 and libidn..
Then I had to make a symlink in /usr/lib:
cd /usr/lib
ln -s libgssapi.so libgssapi_krb5.so.2

Everything is working fine! :)

I quickly wrote an ebuild for zattoo, available at http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=178918
If I forgot some dependences, please let me know.

EDIT: Fixed link (thanks to DrAgOnTuX)

same here... no sound, and it crashes after a couple of seconds. but i don't have bug-buddy installed (too many dependencies), is there usable information in the crash-window?

It'll be lovely to have, I use it in OSX for intel right now. here's a crash sample:

doesn't look too helpful to me but anyway. This is with gentoo 2007.0 gnome 2.16.3 and 2.6.21 kernel.

I think it needs net-misc/curl

Code: Select all

Checking dynamic linking consistency...
  broken /usr/bin/zattoo_player (requires libcurl.so.3)
 done.
after emerging curl I was able to run zattoo_player, but it crashed after a few seconds of watching mtv

PS: is it possible to send this ebuild to an overlay, maybe the sunrise overlay?

Cool, it works great from the sunrise overlay :) it installed libgssapi, guess I forgot that or set up something wrong.

I only pointed out the libs I have had difficulties with, there were ofc more ;)

Hello!

Thanks for the ebuild!

But I have a problem... I post the execution log below (it ended with a segmentation fault)...
I don't understand the two first errors and have no idea on how to correct them...
I have no sound...
And when I get the video stream the application crashes badly...

Any idea of how to make it works?

Thanks!

Same problem with vlc and ffmpeg. Zattoo corrupts ffmpeg and the libffmpeg_plugin.so of vlc was linked with several libraries from zattoo install. I think the .so files provided by Zattoo were from a 2006**** ffmpeg version. Hence, several symbols were unknown while loading libffmpeg_plugin.so which was compiled with the headers from a 2007**** version!!

More informations (in french) :

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-562848.html

If someone knows how to solve the problem (this means, have zattoo installed without link problems!)...

Update: Zattoo 2.2.9 for linux is out, and now it actually functions properly once you've unarchived the tarball and added all the symlinks mentionned in the instructions page. For gentoo however some of the paths are different so here's mine :

You must install zattoo in /usr/lib/, not /usr/local/lib....

Try installing zattoo using the ebuild I wrote (available on the sunrise overlay)

You must install zattoo in /usr/lib/, not /usr/local/lib....

Try installing zattoo using the ebuild I wrote (available on the sunrise overlay)

Using your ebuild, in my test PC in my office, I get:

Code: Select all

$ zattoo_player
zattoo_player: error while loading shared libraries: libgnomeui-2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Wierd thing is I have this:

Code: Select all

$ equery belongs libgnomeui-2.so.0
[ Searching for file(s) libgnomeui-2.so.0 in *... ]
gnome-base/libgnomeui-2.16.1 (/usr/lib64/libgnomeui-2.so.0 -> libgnomeui-2.so.0.1600.1)
As you can see my test PC is amd64 (which I had to add to your ebuild keywords to emerge it). Any suggestions?

try something like
ln -sfn /usr/lib64/libgnomeui-2.so.0 /usr/lib/zattoo/
or
ln -sfn /usr/lib64/libgnomeui-2.so.0 /usr/lib/

try something like
ln -sfn /usr/lib64/libgnomeui-2.so.0 /usr/lib/zattoo/
or
ln -sfn /usr/lib64/libgnomeui-2.so.0 /usr/lib/
It seems to me that zattoo really doesn't support 64 bit:

Code: Select all

$ zattoo_player
zattoo_player: error while loading shared libraries: libgnomeui-2.so.0: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64

Hi all,

I have managed to make an ebuild for the new zatto version (3.0.3.8013), but I'm still having same problems with sound descrptied before in this thread... Did anyone find out any definitive solution?

Regards

I have installed the player like this:
https://zattoo.com/downloadlinux

i merged gtkglext, xulrunner and i wrote this:

Code: Select all

ln -s /usr/lib/xulrunner/libgtkembedmoz.so /usr/lib/zattoo/libgtkembedmoz.so.0d
ln -s /usr/lib/xulrunner/libmozjs.so /usr/lib/zattoo/libmozjs.so.0d
ln -s /usr/lib/xulrunner/libnspr4.so /usr/lib/zattoo/libnspr4.so.0d
ln -s /usr/lib/xulrunner/libplc4.so /usr/lib/zattoo/libplc4.so.0d
ln -s /usr/lib/xulrunner/libplds4.so /usr/lib/zattoo/libplds4.so.0d
ln -s /usr/lib/xulrunner/libxpcom.so /usr/lib/zattoo/libxpcom.so.0d
ln -s /usr/lib/xulrunner/libxul.so /usr/lib/zattoo/libxul.so.0d
and did "/sbin/ldconfig /usr/lib/zattoo"

but i get a error with a lib although the lib is installed by dev-libs/nspr
/usr/bin/zattoo_player
/usr/bin/zattoo_player: error while loading shared libraries: libplds4.so.0d: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Anyone a idea? or should i wait for a new ebuild :)?
