What is causing this? When I boot the computer, I boot into the text-based terminal instead of a graphical interface. Once it gets to the login screen, it keeps repeating this error message about once per second:
Code:
[ACPI Debug] String: [0x12] "=====QUERY_2F====="

It prints this constantly. It doesn't stop me from typing commands, but it is very distracting having the command text split across several lines and with error messages scattered between them. It even pops up when viewing man pages or using less.

It started doing this after updating udev. Anyone know what this error means, or why it would start showing up now?

I did a bit of googling and it seems to be acpid spewing out debug information about something
on your system. There wasn't any information on that exact error.

Please can you paste a little more information about your system so that those
with a little more knowledge about all things acpi can perhaps help you.

I have a Toshiba Sattelite. Ummm it has an ATI graphics card. Pentium Dual core. I don't know what else would be important.

It really doesn't matter any more. The problem went away. Unfortunately I don't know what fixed it.

OK. It looks like it is not actually fixed, it just hid itself. Now it is obliterating dmesg.
Code:
 dmesg
UERY_2F====="
[ACPI Debug]  String: [0x12] "=====QUERY_2F====="
[ACPI Debug]  String: [0x12] "=====QUERY_2F====="
[ACPI Debug]  String: [0x12] "=====QUERY_2F====="
[ACPI Debug]  String: [0x12] "=====QUERY_2F====="
[ACPI Debug]  String: [0x12] "=====QUERY_2F====="
[ACPI Debug]  String: [0x12] "=====QUERY_2F====="
[ACPI Debug]  String: [0x12] "=====QUERY_2F====="
[ACPI Debug]  String: [0x12] "=====QUERY_2F====="
[ACPI Debug]  String: [0x12] "=====QUERY_2F====="

I clipped the output, but trust me that this is all that is in the file now.

Does anyone know what this message is talking about or why it is showing up so much?
