hello im new to linux (so go easy on me  ) and i wanted to install Gentoo.
so i downloaded Gentoo 2006.1 Universal install CD ( ppc 32bit ). i then burned the image on to a blank cd with nero ( yes i burned an image not drag and drop). i also made sure that my CD drive was set to boot first, but it wont boot at all... i even went in and manually selected a boot device and it still just checks it and acts like there is nothing to boot there. i know i have all of the files on the disk. so i am kind of lost here any help would greatly be appreciated. |

| to isolate the problem you can try booting the gentoo livecd on anothe machine ( a friend`s , maybe ) . |

Are you sure you have a PPC Mac? It could be an x86. Or, it could be not a Mac at all  |

Hi and welcome to the forums.
Make sure you burned the cd as an iso-image. If you open the file with a tool like winrar and burn the files as a data cd, it won't work.

lol PPC stands for mac? well  which one is windows. just to make sure i get the right one this time here are all my specs.

Looks like you need the x86 install CD not the PPC one.

Note: If you are in doubt of which platform / architecture to get, you probably need i386. |
