Hi,
I am trying to install gentoo on sparch64 with kernel 2.6.16 .After first reboot i am getting message
------
VFS: Cannot open root device "sda1" or unknown-block(0,0)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
<0>Press Stop-A (L1-A) to return to the boot prom
-------
I think i know the reason, i missed SCSI Drivers while configuring the Kernel. Now i dont know how to recompile the kernel.
I am installing from serial port and i really dont know how to do Press Stop-A (L1-A) to return to the boot prom
as i am not using SUN keyboard.
Can anyone please help me to get kernel recompile .From where should i start this re compilation ?
Thanks in advance . |

Moved from Installing Gentoo to Gentoo on Sparc.

Sending a terminal break is the same as Stop-A on serial.
And yes, you most certainly lack the block (scsi) driver to access the disk. _________________ Gustavo Zacarias
