|
|
I wish to use my laptop as a bluetooth receiver for my GPS device and storing its output. Now each time I close the lit (with or without pbbuttons loaded) the laptop just stops after 10 minutes after use.
Could this behavior, which probably tries to safe the battery, be disabled? If so; how? _________________ Support Eachother, Copy Dutch Property! |

No, as far as I know, it's a built in PMU "feature" to prevent the laptop from overheating. OSX does have a method of turning it off, but benh has said in the past that he's not sure how. _________________ Gentoo PPC FAQ: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-ppc-faq.xml |

This is strange
I used to run kernel 2617-r8 and i closed the lid all the time, for hours at a time and it didnt turn itself off...
Now im on kernel 2619r3, closed lid and found it to be turned off a while later...
No idea how to change this, it must be a kernel option? I'll mess about _________________ Main:

AliasXZ: please note that my PowerBook does only shut down if it's running on battery. Is your *Book running on battery, too?

Does anybody know how to disable this? Here, I normally leave my iBook on for days (and when still using OSX, I had uptime in months). However, it's grown annoying to come along, and find my iBook off, because the power cable had nudged its way out (just by a bit). |

How can this prevent overheating if it only does it on battery power? Wouldn't it overheat on AC power?
My iBook shuts off after exactly 4 minutes, when on battery power with the lid closed.
As a work around you can set it to go in sleep after 3:58 so you can wake it back up instead of rebooting. |
