|
|
I need a CD based on the 2.6.20 kernel to be able to install Gentoo on my notebook, since it should contain the r1000 module. I have done some searching for a Linux boot CD based on the 2.6.20 (or later kernel), with no luck. Does anyone know of such a CD?
I assume it will be possible to install Gentoo from some other CD (if there are any)?
I really wish there was a 2007.0 release, it would solve this mess... Will there ever be one, do you think? _________________ If you've got nothing nice to say, you're probably not alone...

kernelOfTruth has offered LiveCDs based on the Gentoo ones but with updated kernels, at http://www.kernel-of-truth.net/downloads_kOT.html for some time | Quote: | r8 release of âsmall gentooâ (x86): [maintenance release]
this release contains kernel 2.6.20-viper4 (+exec-shield + atl1 kernel-module) | and | Quote: |
amd64-release (r6) of âsmall gentooâ:
this release contains kernel 2.6.20-rc5 + several additional patches | Not quite 2.6.20 but it may suit your purpose.
Installing Gentoo from another LiveCD (not Gentoo) is covered in The Gentoo Linux alternative installation method HOWTO following the Knoppix instructions: really, boot the LiveCD, get a terminal or go to the console (Ctrl-Shift-F1) and follow the manual. There are some things it says don't work on Knoppix but Sabayon, which is based on Gentoo, should have no problems. _________________ The avatar is jorma, a "duck" from "Elephants Dream": the film and all the production materials have been made available under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License, see orange.blender.org for details. |

Thanks all!
A friend of mine had an Ubuntu preview for their upcoming 7.04 release, and there the card worked out of the box. _________________ If you've got nothing nice to say, you're probably not alone... |
