[posted in amd64 subforum, nothing]

1) updated netscape-flash, 9.0.48.0-r1 to 9.0.115.0, after emerge --sync

2) followed update directions from, http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Flash_9_and_Firefox

i.e.
emerge -av nspluginwrapper

nspluginwrapper --install /usr/lib32/nsbrowser/plugins/libflashplayer.so
emerge -av emul-linux-x86-soundlibs

So now, some flash/youtube/mywasteofspace movies/music players work, and some are just a grey box with no controls!

AND, the errors i get when i log out of X, are something like this:

Code:

The program 'npviewer.bin' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

OR something like this:

Code:

*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: NPP_Destroy() invoke: Connection closed
*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: NPClass::Invalidate() invoke: Connection closed
*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: NP_Shutdown() invoke: Connection closed
*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: NPP_Destroy() invoke: Connection closed
*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: NPClass::Invalidate() invoke: Connection closed
*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: NP_Shutdown() invoke: Connection closed

And:

Code:

which: no soundwrapper in

Any ideas?

Thank you for posting this in a more articulate manner than I could. I'm experiencing the same problem, and have been searching the forums unsuccessfully for a solution most of the day.

Flash was working fine until the netscape-flash upgrade.

nspluginwrapper re-emerged, no effect.

This is of particular concern to me because my bank requires flash on its login page; and the first of the month, with all the bill paying and the funds transferring and the pain and the teeth gnashing is upon us.

2.6.23-gentoo-r3 x86_64 AMD Athlon.

The soundwrapper thing seems harmless, but I was getting the first lot of errors because of problems in my ALSA config. I had configured some 64-bit LADSPA plugins, but since Flash is 32-bit it couldn't load the 64-bit plugins and as soon as a Flash plugin tried to play audio it would turn into a grey box and display those errors.

I temporarily fixed it by removing the 64-bit plugins from the ALSA chain, and I permanently fixed it by compiling 32-bit versions of all the plugins I was using.

You may find the update triggered this problem because the old version of flash used OSS, but the newest version uses ALSA.
