as much as it saddens me, i have decided to put routoo on a sort of "hiatus"... i haven't had the time and support that i had originally intended.

now before the community goes "figures, another gentoo project down the tubes", "woe is bunder", etc, i do plan on releasing routoo... when i have time and help developing it.

the current status of routoo is such:

- the tree is there and so far, works. 8O
- /profiles/ could be cleaned up more.
- no kernel yet. i had envisioned a package based system which installed a base .config, and modifying portage to include a NETWORK_CARDS option, which would pull in a package for the cards (10-cards, 100-cards, 1000-cards), which would either add to .config or build the module on the fly ala ati-drivers or nvidia-drivers etc.
- no web interface. apache is in the tree, but not much else in terms of php/perl/cgi or whatever we were going to build the interface using.
- no documentation. so far if you wanted to test the tree, you can start off with a gentoo livecd and dump a stage2 (not stage3), edit make.conf, sync, update system and start routooing. but since there is no kernel, you might not get far.
- no developers. while steveL has been a constant source of information, we're just not seeing eye-to-eye. when i first thought out routoo, i was hoping that i could leave most of the development to others while i finished a real roadmap for how routoo should, in my eyes, proceed. that never happened. this isn't his fault, and i hope he can accept that i am pushing routoo aside for when i have some real time to dedicate to the project. i'm not a coder, and never really intended to be. i just wanted to spearhead this project, not to be the sole developer.

and to top it off, i can't stay where i'm living for too much longer, so i'm going to be really busy moving around july.

i appreciate all the comments you guys have given... and i hope to see some of you when i bring routoo out of hiatus. :)
