CIao a tutti!
Visto che avevo compilato il kernel senza il supporto per l'apm me lo sono ricompilato.
Ho eseguito questa procedura che ho trovato in linuxfaq.it:
1) cd /usr/src/linux
2)make menuconfig
3) ho attivato l'apm
4) make dep clean bzImage
5)make modules
6)make modules-install
7)cp /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/bzImageAPM
Dopo questi passaggi, sono andato a vedere nella cartella /boot e quasi prendo un infarto quando ho visto che non c'era più niente, a parte il file bzImageAPM. Infatti prima c'era system.map boot.boot L'immagine della prima compilazione del kernel bzImage e altri file.
Vi prego, aiutatemi.....
Come posso fare a sistemare la situazione?

hmmm questo mi fa pensare che hai creato i 100 mega per la partizione di boot , quindi prima di copiare il kernel dovresti montare la partizione con :
mount /boot
poi fai un ls -la /boot
e vedrai che li hai tutti i tuoi files preziosi  quindi copia li il kernel

Si, infatti ho la partizione da 100 Mb. Il fatto é che se faccio mount /boot mi dice che /dev/BOOT non esiste. Eppure in /etc/fstab ho la seguente riga:
/dev/BOOT /boot ext2 noauto,noatime |

non avevo montato boot solo che non c'era il device /dev/BOOT ma era /dev/hda2 grazie mille!!!

JacoMozzi... quella riga nel tuo fstab è vagamente da cambiare
... invece di /dev/BOOT devi inserire ad esempio /dev/hda1. |

ricordati inoltre di configurare il tuo booloader per caricare il nuovo kernel...
