Hello,

I need some reasons to switch to Gentoo. I have installed it once, ran into some problems, so decided to try others. I failed to get debian installed, but had success with RH 7.3, SuSe 8.0 and Mandrake 8.2

For some reason, I keep coming back to Gentoo.<g>
Maybe it's the group here, you all have been very helpful.

Anyways, should I stay with the ease of one of these other distros or reinstall Gentoo? I wanted to learn RH for career reasons, and suse seems like a nice desktop, although some of their packages are outdated. I tried to install gnucash 1.6.6 and suse failed.

Thanks for the encourgeing words.
P.S. For some reason, I cannot log into this fourm using konqueror.

Frank

Yes, switch to Gentoo -- if you have time, patience, and a willingness to learn about your system. It's very open, very fast... occasionally time consuming, but well worth it.

Well I like gentoo alot, and I think its the best out there in my opinion. It constantly has updates, great suport, ect....

It's up to you if you still want to use gentoo, you could install RH and Gentoo on you system.

I would say give gentoo another try 8)

I kinda like Red Carpet. But I guess there is no need for this in Gentoo through.
I guess it defeats the use of emerge.

I guess I'll try and install Gentoo again. Getting lots of experience putting on/off.<g>

Thanks

Frank
