i just did a 'emerge alsa' and it says this

* IMPORTANT: 1 config files in /etc need updating.
* Type emerge --help config to learn how to update config files.


i tryed to understand emerge --help config but its too confusing for me.

dang it, i still get this when KDE starts

Deactivate the option "Userdefined sounddevice" in Kontrolcenter --> Sound & Multimedia --> Sound System --> Sound In-/Output
Let KDE find the device by itself, it works here if I do it in this way..

im not sure if i understand you, but after a kernel compile you only have to "emerge alsa-driver" and your sound should work again

oops, my bad, i dident read the man to well did i :wink:

i kept doin emerge alsa, not emerge alsa-driver

well, emerge alsa-driver dident work either, so i started to whole thing over, but i get errors when i try to update-modules
