I read these forums every day, and it's all problems problems problems.

So I thought I'd make a post about a success for a change. A story about things being easy. Almost too easy, to be honest.

I have a headless Kurobox with Gentoo installed. I emerged 'cups', switched my printer on (connected via a wireless router), and went to http://<kurobox>:631 from my laptop. I clicked "add printer", and saw the following item in the list:

HP Deskjet 5800 192.168.11.148 (HP Deskjet 5800)

I don't know how it happened. To be honest, I don't care. But I'm pleased that it "just worked". I think this "free operating system" lark has come of age, and I'm happy with that.
