Hello. I am a new user of gentoo, and I am a ok php developer. I dislike the way the current interface for the package list is, and I am willing to write a few scripts to make it more user friendly.
Are you intrested? If you are, I will set up a demo script for you to take a gander at. I also would like to know how you update the list. I assume you have it automated somehow. If I know this, I can work the scripts into the page.
Thank you and please let me know.

Portage relies heavily upon Python -- not PHP. I'd say you'll have a better chance of gaining support for your suggestion if you stick to Python.

Yep -- reading it again, sure sounds that way. I *think* the web site code is maintained in cvs (cvs.gentoo.org) so you might be able to figure out how things work by looking there. Again, given Gentoo's overall investment in Python, I imagine it's being used somehow. (but I don't know for sure.)
