Man, in my opinion Gentoo can take a life out from a "dead" hardware. Well, I have a p3 866, not exactly a "dead" hardware, but ... I was a Red Hat user, I used rh 7.1 until 7.3, and when 8.0 came out, it was really too bloated to this box. So I started looking for something different to run on this machine, and found Gentoo. It was (and still is) fast, it install *only* what I want, I don't have to deal with rpms and it is stable. It also have a wonderful community all over the world and some of the best docs I ever found.
Now I have only Gentoo instaled here ... _________________ My blog
