After much tooth-gnashing about the loss of XMMS (dumb decision -- yes I've heard the rationale for why it was removed -- it was still dumb) I installed Audacious.
Audacious doesn't see my audio CDs (this feature works fine in XMMS). I get:
"No playable CD found"
"No CD is inserted, or inserted CD is not an audio CD"
Any ideas why this isn't working? |

I just tried and got the same result. This is how to fix it:
Go to preferences (right click on the main player and choose preferences.
Go down to plugins, choose the CD audio plugin and click Preferences. Choose the correct device and it works. (Mine was set to /dev/cdrom, which I don't have. Once I set it to /dev/hdc it was fine).
There are other options there too, including cddb setup.
Hope that helps.
EDIT: PS there is a "Check Drive" button that makes sure you have chosen wisely. |

I looked for that before, couldn't find it.
Thanks for the advice. It's fixed. |
