After searching the net some time, I've finally given up. Does anyone know a way to update the software of iPods from linux? The wiki on the gentoo-wiki pages is outdated, I could not find the program it directed me to download. _________________ AMD Athlon 64 3000+, MSI K8N NEO Platinum Edition S754, Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 200GB S-ATA, nVidia GeForce 6600 GT. |

The only way I can think of would be to run windows and itunes in vm, and update through that.
Be careful, though, as the new firmware broke iPod apps on linux. _________________ Gnome:

Thats not true. Only the newest iPod's don't work right away, although there seems to be a solution for that now. The older iPod's can be updated and work just the same as before. |

If you are using an older IPod u can use gtkpod, which for me has worked flawlessly... If it is the newer Ipod (with video & touch screen) then I have no idea, I'd assume (probably incorrectly) that gtkpod can still be used. I had read that the new firmware did lock out linux users, but that is was cracked within 24 hours. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks _________________ Opteron 1356@2.4Ghz

LoSeR_5150, Dottout: You're not reading the question. The question was, how to update the iPod's firmware from within Linux, not how to use the new iPods with Linux... |
