A simple question:
What's the right order of compilation?
I know it's: kdesupport -> kdelibs -> kdepimlibs -> kdebase -> (everything else with not a specific order)
Am I right? _________________ Marco

What's happening here, is that cmake compiles different targets, and then links things together. If you use parallel make, and some target fails to compile, the error will only be fatal when it tries to link the failed target with other things.
So the error you pasted is where the error becomes fatal, but it's not the _actual_ error.
If you could join #genkdesvn on freenode or get me the _full_ build.log for kdelibs, I should be able to fix it. |

@ddeflyer: There's no need for a live kdebase-workspace ebuild because workspace is included in kdebase on the SVN server. |

Thanks you guys - I had the exact same problem - try downgrading soprano to 0.9.0 - it solves the missing query.h & kdelibs is compiling - 62% & going strong. (Why did it take someone else´ s build.log?) |

@johanson: You should re-emerge soprano and after that kdelibs. This fixed the error here. |

Peculiar. When I start kde4, it was just giving a blank desktop. After a bunch of fiddling I have gotten it to show a bar at the bottom with two little boxes in it saying "This object could not be loaded" Any ideas?
My emerge --info is:

Adding as an after thought: The stuff that I fiddled with was some of my variables such as paths and such. I did this by using the .bashrc that is at this link: http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started/Increased_Productivity_in_KDE4_with_Scripts/.bashrc As far as other software goes, this is a brand new install, stage three with bootstrap after the install (mostly all ~amd64 though with a few stable branch packages left that I haven't updated yet.)
To do the install I ran layman and unmaksed kde-9999.4 then filled in the package.keywords file and package.use file. After all the required packages were unmasked and and use variables set it compiled without a complaint. When the desktop did work I tried to reemerge all the the 9999.4 version packages I had unmasked, and I hit the snag with kde-libs that others are hitting now. All the building was done Monday and Tuesday'ish
I can't think of anything else that might be important to say. _________________ -David

There was another BIC day, before beta 3, and currently sycoca is broken.
Don't bother compiling svn atm, you'll get a totally unusable KDE4 and won't be able to start any KDE4 programs... |

I would rather see it fixed then simply disabling sandbox ... the strange thing is that it happens only on one of the boxes I am trying to build KDE4 - the one that uses chroot (if that is interesting) |

Of Couse. I just wanted to try, if that is all that prevents it from compiling and installing.
I didn't only get this for kdelibs btw. I got thiis for almost every kde svn package. |

sandbox violations over here too.
However, I *WOULD NOT* disable it, since it writes into the system, where you won't find the files anymore. Or it even might overwrite things you might need. So, waiting now... |
