Strange... Now if I first go to http://wiki.enlightenment.org/index.php/Category:Enlightenment_Window_Manager and then choose E17_and_Efreet it works.

EDIT:
:) There is a dot at the end of your link, that is why it didn't work.

Just tried install e17 from http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_e17...

Code:

localhost dmenu # emerge -avu ${E17_EBUILDS_TO_INSTALL}

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies /
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "dev-libs/efreet".

Is where something going on e17 or what? Why efreet wont found? Should i just wait or what?

I assume you are using layman:
Did you add the "source" line to your make.conf?

Code:

echo "source /usr/portage/local/layman/make.conf" >> /etc/make.conf

I had the same error yesterday and it works fine now.

You mean keyboard layout? in /etc/X11/xorg.conf ;)

see /etc/conf.d/alsasound

Code:
...
RESTORE_ON_START="yes"
...
SAVE_ON_STOP="yes"

Nothing related to e17 in any way.

Empty alsasound sounds strange/outdated. For keymap don't forget to rc-update add keymaps boot. Same for the alsasound init script.

Empty alsasound sounds more like a not applied etc-update/dispatch-conf/cfg-update.
What is the output of
Code:
ls /etc/conf.d/._*

EDIT: It could also be that you have not installed alsa-utils.

Hi guys,

i'm just wondering if this is a bug or a feature: When I press shortcuts like ALT+f in order to launch firefox, e17 writes "f" on my desktop. See http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/3669/e17bugzf5.jpg

Is there a (simple) way to disable that behaviour?

EDIT: Ok, the bug seems to be resolved now :)

I am having some trouble compiling x11-wm/e-9999, since I get this error:

Has anyone else have had problems compiling E since December? (when this was patched). I am using gcc 4.1.2 and vapiers layman overlay (followed the instructions on gentoo-wiki).

Me being a big fan of enlightenment I downloaded from source using cvs. Cause of this work a round I built a shell with know errors and knows how to fix them, but it's still a bit buggy. I'll come back again and tell all you lot when I finished and have plaved on my website.

ANother thing I would like to say is thank good for enlightement because they created evas. Evas and Ecore and wonderful programming tools. Easy to learn, and easyier than java, as long as you know the basics of c. I hoped to get a couple of games built to. I luv it :mrgreen:

broeman: I have this exact problem. It would be nice to find a solution to it, but I can't find any... :(
It might work to remove the temperature module from the makefile, as this seems to be the problem.

Edit:
It compiled just fine without the temperature module

quite frankly I don't know of this module. It isn't part of the cvs download.

The temperature module is a standard module that comes with e itself.
I just edited the two Makefiles in /var/tmp/portage/x11-wm/e-9999/work/e17/apps/e/src/modules/ to disable it.

great, it worked :)

I think I finally found a dark theme, that I am happy with Carbon-14 (http://www0.get-e.org/Themes/E17/_files/carbon-14v2.edj) and GTK-theme Neutronium. It has some kind of retro-80s-pixel-accuracy style over it.

For one I think I will keep E17 ... seems a lot more stable and having settings for most things now (last time I used E17, they just implemented the "control panel", and it was buggy).

Keep up the good work!

I have a question.

Alt + Tab: lets you browse the windows of the current virtual desktop

is there any keyboard combination that let you navigate all windows on all the virtual desktops?

That's a config option. I can't tell you exactly where, because I'm running beryl at the moment ( damned E17 not supporting AIGLX compositing ). But anyway, look through the config panel, and also check out the 'advanced' options in each of the config pages.
