|
|
When I created a regular user account, the account was made but it didn't add it to /home. I guess user 'saptech' doesn't have a home.
Any idea why this happen? I haven't tried making another user account but will when I get home in the morning.
Thnx.

Can't remembe exactly but I think user has login for home dir to be created.
if you want home dir to be created you have specify with "-m or --create-home" switches.
better read

You probably used useradd command and did not pass -m option. |

Thnx for the replies. I followed the installation handbook and believe I used -m switch. As I said, I will have to make another account to verify. _________________ AMD Athlon 64 3200+ GHz (Socket AM2) processor

Just to confuse things there is a "adduser" command. (Sorry.) |

I used the minimum install so I don't have adduser yet. I tried it first and then went ahead and used the useradd command even before finishing the complete install.
I"m still having some issues with either X-server or Fluxbox, but since I work nights I've put gentoo to the side for the moment.

For easy user account creation just emerge app-admin/superadduser - this is a port of the Slackware adduser script, which is interactive and much easier to use than the standard commands, a really foolproof solution. |

It seems creating a new regular user account was made into /home, as it should be.
Hopefully this is solved.
