|
|
I recently upgraded the kernel from gaming-sources-2.4.20-r3 to mm-sources-2.5.69-r1, and it doesn't like my IntelliMouse that worked dandy in gaming-sources (and all the other 2.4 kernels, to my recollection).
So, a couple things, to get rid of the intro questions:
- The mouse works w/the USB -> PS2 adapter.
- Other USB mice work on this machine. I have a really cheapo GE (yes, GE makes mice, I guess) USB mouse that worked w/out a problem. The IntelliMouse is stubborn.
- I think I have everything that's normally necessary for USB mice. I compared the USB settings to the USB settings from my 2.4 kernel, and they matched. Don't know if that counts though, I've never set up a dev kernel before.
Here's some dmesg goodness.
Code: |
hub 1-0:0: debounce: port 1: delay 100ms stable 4 status 0x301
hub 1-0:0: new USB device on port 1, assigned address 4
usb 1-1: USB device not accepting new address=4 (error=-110)
hub 1-0:0: new USB device on port 1, assigned address 5
usb 1-1: USB device not accepting new address=5 (error=-110)
hub 1-0:0: debounce: port 2: delay 100ms stable 4 status 0x301
hub 1-0:0: new USB device on port 2, assigned address 6
input: USB HID v1.10 Mouse [A4Tech USB Optical Mouse] on usb-00:04.2-2
usb 1-2: USB disconnect, address 6
Trying to free free IRQ12
input: ImExPS/2 Generic Explorer Mouse on isa0060/serio1

Here's the lowdown. The first 6 messages are me trying the mouse on different ports. I think the first three are from when the kernel booted.
The next two messages are me trying the GE mouse.
The rest are me removing that mouse and putting the IntelliMouse on the PS2.
Thoughts? |

I just upgraded to mm-sources-2.5.69-r3, started x and did my normal routine, and then said "ah, what the heck, i'll try the mouse!" and it worked, so... yeah. I don't know if it was the new kernel or trying to load it with X/nvidia loaded (no IDEA why that would matter), but either way, I'm just going to close my eyes about it all for now.. :) |
