ok, i know there are like a million post on printer problems and i tried to search through them, but there are like way to many, so if this is a dup, sorry.
I have a hp deskjet840c. I plugged it into my usb port and followed the getoo printing guide. I can't get past one of the first few steps. when i go to /dev/usb, ther is no lp0. or and lp_ anything.
I have usb supports compiled into my kernel. I know it works because my usb external harddrive works. I have printer support as a module and put printer in my modules.autoload. When my box boots up, it says something to the effect of loading printer, and it says it's ok. Am i missing something?
I tested the printer on my windows box and it worked like a charm so I know the printer and usb cable are fine. any suggestions? |

ok, i got it to see lp0. I can't use usb2 and my printer at the same time -- I think. I don't know why, but when i stopped using usb2 (which i use for my external storage), my printer was detected. Anyone know what this is all about? |
