i just installed gentoo 1.3a. could gcc 3.1 be responisble for some emerge problems ive been having... check this out....

| i use gentoo 1.2 / gcc-2.95.3 and i have exactly the same problem. |

| now it works ... i just removed the *.ebuild - files in /usr/portage/gnome-base/control-center/ and did a "emerge rsync" |

| An "emerge rsync --clean" would have fixed it as well. |

| thanks guys that worked for me too, but it seems like it emerging way too much gnome stuff for simple gaim and xmms usage. do i really need gconf 1.0 and 1.2 and gnome-core to send an instant message or listen to an mp3? i remember on a previous installation deciding that i didnt need gnome and unmerging everything gnome, but still being able to use gaim. |

I was having a similar problem and just running "emerge rsync" without the clean fixed it.
Now I am on the mission to get Gaim installed and all of its many dependent packages 
I am having this problem when I emerge gconf-1.0.8-r3

Any ideas? I cannot find anyone else having any db3 problems. |
