I've been watching the making of documentaries for the first lord of the rings. I've watched this before when the dvd first came out, but, yeah, I've got a day to kill. Really amazing stuff.
Have you read the 'children of thurin' yet? Have I already asked you that?

I try and reply to this thread on the 1st of December, because today is the day I put up my christmas tree. I was just looking on the wikipedia, and apparently this is an australia/new zealand tradition. It coincides with the first day of summer.

Sugar, why does it matter? I'm an atheist, my wife is a non-theist as well, but we do Christmas because it's a lovely holiday.

It mattered because he had said that he "refused to celebrate christmas", and putting up a tree and buying stuff sounded like he did.
It was just something that didn't make sense at the time. Probably just something he said in agnostic fervour.
