For the lefties :

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2012, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere . Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wished.

For the sane :

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

As we each celebrate this Yuletide season, I would encourage all to remember the words of Óðinn,

Quote:
With arms and vestments friends should each other gladden, those which are in themselves most sightly. Givers and requiters are longest friends, if all [else] goes well.

...

I counsel thee, etc. If thou knowest thou hast a friend, whom thou well canst trust, go oft to visit him; for with brushwood over-grown, and with high grass, is the way that no one treads.

I counsel thee, etc. A good man attract to thee in pleasant converse; and salutary speech learn while thou livest.

I counsel thee, etc. With thy friend be thou never first to quarrel. Care gnaws the heart, if thou to no one canst thy whole mind disclose.

As Þórr battles the Jǫtnar who have invaded Miðgarðr, may he also guide you in your own battle to repel winter from your soul. As we prepare to honor ᛜFreyr as He embarks on his Journey to thaw the heart of the Gerðr, may he also cause the quickening of your own seeds, bringing forth unto you children, fame and fortune.

May the Yesterdays of your past and the Days of your future be marked by the Gods in such a manner that they welcome you into their Halls, and drink Sumbel in your honor, boasting to all their good fortune in knowing a possessor of such Honor.

Heil the Gods and Goddesses of our Ancestors!

NQS

I don't wish Merry Christmas prematurely. Takes the fizz off the date.

But since people here are getting carried away...

MERRY CHRISTMAS.

(long distance, so I have to shout.)

Now, where can I find a proper x-mas cake?
