|

I've download the "stage1 build anything from source" tarball, and extracted it under /mnt/gentoo.
This is what happens when I chroot to /mnt/gentoo:
-----------------------------------------------------------
[root -=(/mnt/gentoo)=-]# chroot /mnt/gentoo /bin/bash
bash-2.05a# env-update
>>> Note: /etc/make.profile isn't available; an 'emerge sync' will probably fix this.
>>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...
bash-2.05a# source /etc/profile
localhost / # emerge sync
>>> Note: /etc/make.profile isn't available; an 'emerge sync' will probably fix this.
>>> starting rsync with rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage...
bash: mc: line 2: unexpected EOF while looking for matching ``'
bash: mc: line 4: syntax error: unexpected end of file
bash: error importing function definition for `mc'
rsync: getaddrinfo: rsync.gentoo.org 873: Temporary failure in name resolution
rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(97)
localhost / # emerge rsync
>>> Note: /etc/make.profile isn't available; an 'emerge sync' will probably fix this.
>>> starting rsync with rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage...
bash: mc: line 2: unexpected EOF while looking for matching ``'
bash: mc: line 4: syntax error: unexpected end of file
bash: error importing function definition for `mc'
rsync: getaddrinfo: rsync.gentoo.org 873: Temporary failure in name resolution
rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(97)
--------------------------------------------------------------
Apart from socket errors (I have a modem connection and my network isn't configured) I get those errors about "mc".
Anybody has experienced something as like? Any idea?
Thanks

Hi Daniele
I had the same issues trying this over a dialup , the only way i've managed to get this working so far was to start with a stage 3 tarball , for some reason the source files are downloadable no worries but it didnt matter what i did to the config ..including the instructions posted to resolve rsync issues ...I couldnt connect ....
has anyone else got any ideas...?? _________________ Theres no substitute for C.I. |
