I know gaim-2.0.0_beta5 is hard-masked, but i actually don't have any problem with gaim itself more with portage...
Portage wants to compile gstreamer since i updated to beta5, which is actually kinda confusing because i have explicitly unset the gstreamer use-flag and beta4 didn't require gstreamer...

here is an extract from the ebuild of the official portage tree

I don't know anything about the ebuild syntax, but i would guess that these two lines are the problem. _________________ "I essentially started using Gentoo because my ....ing KDE clock would never show the right time in Red Hat." |

um... try commenting them out? overlay your portage with a custom tree? _________________ Configuring a Firewall? Try my iptables configuration

Hmm i deleted every gstreamer out of the ebuild, but he still wants to compile gstreamer, i'm recompiling gaim right now, but i don't believe that this will change something.
EDIT: After recompile equery d gstreamer says there is no package depending on gstreamer, but emerge -Dau world still wants to compile gstreamer, seems that emerge has a cache or something like that. _________________ "I essentially started using Gentoo because my ....ing KDE clock would never show the right time in Red Hat." |

Use emerge's -t option to see what is depending on gstreamer. |
